Piano Is Fun is
educational software for children. It is best used for
teaching children to read music. It does this through a
series of twenty lessons, each with an evaluation game for
review.
Quantity:
There's only a
moderate amount of content here, but for what the product
intends to accomplish (teaching children to read music and find
notes on the piano), it's plenty. There are twenty
lessons, which for most children seems about right.
Quality:
For children's
educational software, the quality is quite good. The
graphics are big and bright, and it has all the visual and sound
effects you would expect from children's software.
Service:
The software is
sold by a small company. The owner and creator of the
course does provide his address, phone number, and email
address, so he is easy to reach should you have a problem.
Online Support:
No student support is available, although the software is simple
enough that it really shouldn't be necessary.
Negatives:
Although the company's website says the product is ideal for
students of all ages, we found it too elementary to be of much
use for teens and adults.
Bottom Line:
If you want your child to learn to read music and begin finding
their way around a piano keyboard, Piano Is Fun is a fantastic
option at a budget price. Don't expect too much, however,
if you are using it as an adult.
